Peggy Franck

Netherlands

Peggy Franck’s work eludes categorisation. Is it photography? Installation? Painting? In the artist’s expansive, expressive and spectacular arrangements viewers encounter mere fragments, twists or splinters of such generic qualifications.

Rather, Franck is interested in the interaction between different media and the physical integration of the observer into her work. Viewers experience her installations as though walking through a hall of shattered mirrors that still seems to resonate with the echo of the collapse. In Franck’s spaces familiar objects, materials and experiences are broken down into single components by way of reflections, distortions, cracks and repetitions.

The artist thus denies spectators any guidance through the maze, inviting them instead to question their own understanding of reality as they are looking for a way out.
