“The exhibition sharing location includes several large-scale prints of drawings. In these images, some parts of the drawing are cropped away, and the space behind, an area made possible in the translation from one format to another, approaches – a large white space, left open. Added afterwards, a second ground, this space the drawing and the print have in common. Shared, it is a superimposition, a pairing that is also a multiplication.
The drawings are of artworks by other artists, rendered faithfully, entirely and without affect. Drawn as close as possible and with little difference between the document and the drawing, they are an immediate image of another, its shadow. And although Thérèse Mastroiacovo cites and appropriates these works without applying her own mark of authorship and artistic subjectivity, relinquishing artistic position as it is conventionally understood, there remains an incongruity, a likeness so close and yet transformed, the repetition of the same that includes space for another.“ (Sarah Greig, 2015)
