INGRID LØNNINGDAL

Left Hand Pad, music video for Espen T. Hangård, 4:11 min, 2018 / Directed and filmed by Ingrid Lønningdal. Edited by Carsten Aniksdal.

Ingrid Lønningdal presents two collaborations on the Open Window screen: a music video for electro musician Espen T. Hangård and documentation of the recent monograph Ingrid Lønningdal – 10.

Flipping through the pages of the monograph we see images from Ingrid’s works interacting with Bethanien’s surroundings – a variety of different architectures on Kottbusser Str, Berlin. The publication is built on a twelve year long conversation between the editor, Anne Szefer Karlsen and the artist. For this book project they invited the contributors to participate in a communal meeting that took place in Oslo. The idea was to create common ground, through meals and experiences. This social start, where peers were invited to exchange thoughts and ideas propelled by the project itself, created the foundation for the editorial work. The publication covers Ingrid Lønnindal’s production from 2009 to 2019 and contains documentation of her artistic practice as well as seven text contributions.

In the music video Left Hand Pad, images of a foggy coastal scenery with steep mountains falling into a fjord accompany the floating, electronic music of Espen T. Hangård. Filmed just outside Lønningdal, the very place that carries Ingrid’s last name, the video is the first collaboration between the two artists. In his solo work and as a member of bands such as Noplacetohide and KILLL, Espen T. Hangård has shown an enduring devotion to experimentation and genre defiance. Since the recording debut in 1995, he has participated on a string of releases and played venues like Berghain and the Roskilde Festival.
