Theme of the concert is “The last man on the moon”, an acoustic and pictorial homage to the completely unnoticed and actually deeply sad Apollo 17 mission. Driftmachine performs the “Lunardisco” with 2 synchronized modular systems while the radio play writer Andreas Ammer quotes from the communication between the astronauts and the ground stations.
One of the tracks will tell the story of the Austronaut Eugene Cerman, who left the moon on 14.12.1972 as the last man with words, that anticipate the theme of the exhibition:
I’m on the surface; and, as I take man’s last step from the surface, back home for some time to come – but we believe not too long into the future – I’d like to say what I believe history will record. That America’s challenge of today has forged man’s destiny of tomorrow. And, as we leave the Moon at Taurus-Littrow, we leave as we came and, God willing, as we shall return, with peace and hope for all mankind. Godspeed the crew of Apollo 17.

Modular synth duo Driftmachine started as a workshop where Andreas Gerth and Florian Zimmer, producers of an extensive back-catalog of records and projects, focused on synth exploration and search for a new approach for groove and bass-driven music. The project steadily evolved and the duo ended up releasing several albums on the acclaimed Mexico-based experimental imprint Umor Rex, labels like Hallow Ground & Ongehoord.
