Ursula Berlot

Slovenia

The exploration of perception and states of consciousness, and the recording of mental or ‘cerebral’ landscapes with which Ursula Berlot has been working for a number of years draws on her consideration of nature as an entity constructed through the mental processes of perception and understanding of the role of the body and the brain in the comprehension of reality.

In her kinetic light installations she explores the perception of the viewers and encourages associative games with the help of the organic-like shapes produced by reflections and projections of light through compositions on transparent supports. In the emerging biomorphic forms and their potential time dimension, which comes to being through the observer‘s moving and perception of light projections behind the material medium, she thus finds apoetics and analogy between mental processes and the organic phenomena in the nature.

Ursula Berlot reveals potential forms and affinities between the material and the non-material and persists in presenting the high complexity and co-dependence of the external and internal activity of every system, be it biological, artificially generated or spiritual.
