Sera Yu Wen Chen (b.1991, Taiwan).
Mainly working on video, photography, and new media installation, her works focus on urban observations and cultural identification while probing the invisible and unstable relationship between the human, the environmental, and the social. By interweaving non-linear narratives and mixed media, she explores the heterogeneity of the narrative system between fiction and non-fiction. She attempts to construct a possible perceptual space and a dialectic field beyond mere visual perception.
In recent years, Chen’s work has further examined how cultural and historical memories influence the construction of individual identity. She explores the marginalized voices of dispersed groups or individuals erased from mainstream narratives under different post-colonial contexts. Additionally, she attempts to intervene in epistemological narrative systems from a non-human perspective, aiming to dissolve the rigid cultural interfaces shaped by official languages and structures.
