Muhannad Shono

Saudi Arabia

Muhannad Shono’s work challenges our collective beliefs through the telling of stories using a multidisciplinary multimedia approach. He questions religious and cultural myths in order to understand how the past can dictate the human narratives we now choose to live.

Shono often mixes those understandings with his personal interest in the scientific, futuristic and the fictional in order to create worlds detached from a time or place yet rooted in our current state.

His storylines blur the past, present, and future as he brings to focus work that explores who we are as a species and where we may be going.

Muhannad Shono was born in 1977 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He graduated from the environmental design department at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals with a degree in Architecture.
