Paper Wound, from the series The Structure of Uncertainty, 2014. Edition 5 + AP

The pictures of my series The Structure of Uncertainty form a paradoxical structure in which I deal with the uncertainty of observations, feelings and essences.

I see my work as an attempt to destabilise the essence of things and change their everyday meanings. In my work, personal archive materials and staged photography are combined. The stable form of the image is fragmented in many ways through editing, using prisms, binoculars and collages. I use Sigmund Freud’s concept of the uncanny to describe my relation to my images. By using the familiar and unfamiliar together, I deal with conflicting feelings and surprising combinations that ask questions. To me the image is an uncertain matter located between fact and fiction, language and body.
