Parasite Project, 2012, Plywood, Paper tape, Paint ball, Water paint, Hammer, Dimensions variable

The intrusion of latent, oppressed, heterogeneous and unfamiliar things in everyday life triggers feelings of uneasiness and uncertainty: suddenly everything seems dubious and out of control. My work is about coexistence of inside and outside, surface and mass. These opposites coexist in various manifestations as parasites of each other. They can at times reveal their hidden form (“Wave” series, 2007-09), claim their existence by living as a parasite in the other (“Parasite Project #1”, 2010) or break down the barrier and invade each other’s territory (“Parasite Project #2: Pang!”, 2011).

I am focusing on the saturated energy in hidden places that can be explode at any point. The ‘surface’, which is used to protect and hide from the exterior, can no longer handle the energy trying to burst out from the inside, and cracks are showing. Return to Wave reveals the inner energy that is channeled out as an event, while the ‘Parasite Project’ is a series of attempts to explore various types of cracks. My work uses the symbolic imagery of cracks to evoke our contemporary society and its mechanisms of cause and effect.
