Logan MacDonald (1979) was born in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Canada. He is of European and Mi’kmaq ancestry, and identifies with both his Indigenous and settler roots. His Mi’kmaq ancestry is connected to Elmastukwek, Ktaqamkuk (Newfoundland).
MacDonald is an artist, curator, writer, educator and activist who work focuses on queer, disability and Indigenous perspectives. Through a research-based approach, his work is interdisciplinary in form, often relying on lyrical expressions of installations that generally feature photography and sculpture. MacDonald was long-listed for the 2019 Sobey Art Award, from which he was awarded a 6 month artist residency at the Künstlerhaus Benthanien. He is a graduate from Concordia University with a BFA in Interdisciplinary Studies and a MFA in Studio Arts from York University. He is currently Vice-Chair of the Aboriginal Curatorial Collective.
