Rest in Space - 10.1. - 2.2.2003
According to the curators of "Rest in Space", their exhibition - with which Künstlerhaus Bethanien is opening 2003 - can be described as a "nomadic camp". Nomads in this sense means people driven to investigate, the searchers and the eternally mobile who begin their productive motion and search for meaning afresh each day. The curators want to present examples of nomadic aesthetics to the viewers, and they see their exhibition - organized in collaboration with Kunstnernes Hus in Oslo - as an "endless journey" in space, investigating not only nomadism but also the role of artist residencies in supporting nomadic art.
With Atle Aas, Marina Abramovic, Maria Thereza Alves, Anita Dube, Alex Flemming, Lotte Konow Lund, Aage Langhelle, Lovedragon, Churchill Madikida, Mitsuko Miwa, Gordon Monahan, Thomas Pihl, Peter Robinson, Chiharu Shiota, Anne Lise Stenseth and Hanne Tyrmi.

The initiative for this exhibition with 10 Portuguese artists came from the regional wine commission - which, by the way, also assures us that no-one on the tour of the studio on 18th January will have an empty glass...

As in previous years, this February the Media Arts Lab of the Künstlerhaus will be a cooperating partner of the Transmediale.
On 1st February, we are inviting people to a workshop with the Net artist Heath Bunting, who aims to organise a "Tour de Fence" in Berlin, so redeeming one of Internet art's promises in real space: the surmounting of borders, in this case of fences. (1st February, 1 pm, Transmediale)
On 4th February this will be followed by a presentation and discussion on the current state of software art - art that is not realised in spatial installations and material images, but views software as art. (4th February, 3 pm, Künstlerhaus).
