Björn Perborg

Sweden

A lot of my work is about looking at the world from a distance, contemplating it as if I were an anthropologist from outer space. It would seem that it is often ironic, although I am unable to understand irony myself. Most of my works are narrative and use a playful language in order to approach serious issues. They express personal experiences, which at the same time could be universal concerns. Religious imagery and the representation of the male role in society are recurring themes in my work. I am also concerned with architecture and the intentions behind the design of spaces. I produce animation, video, sculpture and installation. My aim is to achieve high production value in terms of craftsmanship, although I consider the objects I make as nothing but props for a mise-en-scène.
